Science Exhibition at Home Monastery – Spring, 2009.
Tashi Phuntsok gets the honor of organizing the first ever science exhibition at a Tibetan Monastery. As a teacher at his local monastery he was able to organize the young monks as they created charts and interactive models covering a range of scientific topics; biology, evolution, the planets, chemistry, and physics. All the exhibits were created by the monks from the Sakya Monastery, and the exhibitions was attended by the entire monastery including its senior leadership.
Towards a periodic table of Buddhist Elements – 2009 – present
Every time members from the Bon monastery leave to attend a science education program, upon their return they are requested to give a talk to the entire monastery of approximately 300 monks. The Abbot, who is extremely supportive of science education, asks them to talk about where they went, what they did, and what they learned. The session typically lasts 1.5 hours with several questions about science raised by the monk audience.
