Growth of scientific knowledge being inevitable, the number of new scientific terms is on rise everyday. To cope with this scientific development, the Tibetan language need not only to be preserved but remain valid and functional in this environment, it is vital to start the process of translation of scientific terminologies into Tibetan sooner than later.

Especially for who us are working on introduction of scientific knowledge into the monastics education system, this is one of the major tumbling block. Not only due to non-availability of a particular science terms in Tibetan but more because of various translations created by various user, which has caused inconsistency in language usage. To overcome these problems we hope to achieve more co-ordination among all the translators through these seminar which would ultimately solve all the problems.

The first Science Terminology Seminar was organized jointly by Science Department and Department of Education, CTA in March 2008 for three days with participation from various institution in and around Dharamshala. Until now we had been able to organized two seminars and able to draft about 300 scientific terms.
